I woke up excited to mild contractions and then my water broke. We agreed with our amazing midwife Savannah to meet at the Toronto Birth Centre. The Birth Centre is a beautiful space and knowing that's where we would go relaxed me. Savannah quickly set me up and I was able to get into the tub shortly after arriving. Savannah has this incredible energy that calmed me through each contraction, but I also sensed her urgency since Wilder was coming very fast. Within just 40 minutes, she was readying my husband and I to welcome our beautiful baby (which we didn't yet know was a boy). In between each contraction, I was excited and in such a wonderful mood because I knew this moment was going to be amazing (hence the smiling pictures). I'll never forget the feeling of bringing my baby up out of the water and on to my chest, massaging him to take his first breath. It was an incredible experience and I am very grateful for all the care and love we received.
